For any lover of the Manx vernacular, this art gallery is one of the island's hidden treasures. Just a little off the beaten track, Daphne MacOwan has created a space within her home for the visiting public to admire the works of 15 participating artists whose variety of works are displayed. The stunning scenery of the Isle of Man inspires the creative talents of painters and photographers alike. Much of the work reflects beautiful and vibrant Manx local life, landscapes as well as dramatic seascapes, seafaring and marine subjects.
Daphne warmly welcomes visitors to the Island who appreciate such creativity or anyone looking for a lasting memento of their visit, as well as for anyone locally who enjoys giving unique and different gifts to mark special occasions. It is worth hunting down this very special little venue to enjoy and to view the pleasures on offer.
In addition to weaving and quilting there are prints reproduced from the paintings, notelets and greeting cards as well as smaller treasures such as miniature wooden jigsaw puzzles, coasters and mousemats depicting the paintings on sale. Whatever your individual taste in art, there is something different and special here that will appeal to everyone at incredibly reasonable prices.
The Gallery keeps a stock of books excellently written by local Manx authors including Linda Mann; T. D. Maughold and Hugh and Alice Alport which are available for purchase.
